Mission Statement

The mission of this organization is to achieve better city government and an enriched quality of life for the citizens of Peabody.

We believe that better government is responsive to the right of the people of this city to improve their lives and well-being, to conserve their property and environment, and to protect their neighborhoods and future generations from unrestrained development. We believe that better government requires elected and appointed officials to listen to and heed the voice of the citizens of this city while also informing themselves of all laws for which they are responsible and enforcing those laws fully and fairly for the good of the community.

We believe that diversity of viewpoints on issues is a strength of our democracy and must not be hindered by tactics of intimidation or reprisal.

We hold to the fundamental democratic proposition of an inclusive government that is for the people, as well as, of the people, and by the people.

Therefore, convinced that an informed electorate is essential to good government and the democratic process, we covenant together to sponsor and host public educational forums for the open discussion and debating of issues relevant to the quality of life in this city.

We commit ourselves to work together for the support of introducing and profiling candidates for ward and citywide offices.

We pledge ourselves and our resources to elect those candidates who most clearly reflect the values of government that is more inclusive, more representational, more respectful of differing views, and more actively involved in the creation of a better community for ourselves and for our children.

We are Peabody citizens for better government.
